“I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my
fortress; my God,in Him will I trust.”
Psalm 91:2 KJV
This Psalm is known as a Psalm of protection. As we live out our lives, we soon find that we will always encounter conflict or trouble. Whether it is created by our own negligence or by others who cross our paths… or sometimes, through things such as disruptive technologies… our computer crashes, a computer module goes out in the car. We may have planned for a beautiful day boating with the family or having a picnic with a friend only to experience a day of thunderstorms. Sometimes, we just have to take a step back and regroup, realizing that while we are in the situation, there is always the possibility and hope of a brighter day.
The writer of this Psalm had his share of trouble, no doubt. Things haven’t changed much through the years with regard trouble finding its way into the lives of humanity. We must and can take comfort in knowing that God, in all his wisdom and planning, may allow trouble to come our way so that we may experience a richer, fuller life because of it. If we truly believe that God has our best interest at heart, we realize he is our refuge and fortress; for in Him we find true peace.. While the storms of life may seem insurmountable, God is there and we can run into his arms. We can put our full trust in him and have every confidence that he will be there to help us navigate through every detail and in the end, we can look back in amazement at the strength and courage He provided.
